About Albert Key

Watt Key, writing here as Albert Key, is an award-winning novelist and screenwriter from the Gulf Coast of Alabama. He knows the woods and water of the South: its hunters and fishermen, its farms and river swamps. In these books, he writes about what waits in them.

The stories usually begin with something small: a long weekend of rain in a nearly empty fishing town, a stand of bamboo on land where no one planted it, a house too grand for the street it sits on. From there it’s a series of what-if questions, followed until the answer turns cold.

His books range from the Florida Panhandle to the Mississippi Delta and the river parishes of Louisiana, from folk horror rooted in Chickasaw country to stories of cursed places, cryptids, and families that should have been left alone.
